When I was in college, a professor went around the class and told us what she thought of us. I only remember one statement she made that day to someone else in the class. The professor said something along these lines: “You are like a sunny freezing cold winter day. You know, one of those days that look absolutely beautiful, but then when you step outside you realize you have to run for shelter to escape the frigid temperatures.”
Today is one of those days in NYC. I never agreed with the comment our professor made, but every time there is a day like she described in NYC, I think fondly about my classmate and smile. I haven’t spoken to her in years, but it’s nice to have a little reminder of her warm personality every time the cold wind slaps me in the face.
