123 Mary Poppins & Advertising Issues

When Mary Poppins opened on Broadway in 2006, there were ads all over town promoting the show. One of the ads had the standard silhouette logo on it, and it said: “Mary Poppins is just a spoonful of sugar!”

One day I was walking through Times Square, and a cab rolled by with the “spoonful of sugar” ad on the roof of the car. However, someone had taken a black sharpie and scratched out the word sugar and replaced it with shit.

So the ad read: “Mary Poppins is just a spoon full of shit.”

Only in NYC.
