67 Back in the Saddle Again

Last night I had the pleasure of oiling my rusty actor/musician skills.

A fellow grad of WSU, and his company Eureka Suitcase, is putting together a reading of a bluegrass fairytale musical that he adapted from Shakespeare’s Pericles. I play bass and 5 or so characters in this great piece.

Aside from the shock I was in when I realized I have not played with a group or  done a bluegrass show in 3 years, a colleague that music directed my first production of Sanders Family Christmas showed up for rehearsal. What a sweet and wonderful surprise! I have never performed with her, so I couldn’t be happier.

But here I was with people from college and one of my first professional theater gigs, reciting Shakespeare, singing, and playing bluegrass. What an amazing group of genres to mix for performance.

It feels good to be back in the actor/musician saddle again, especially in the town I call home.
