51 Want a Dog But Can’t Have One?

For years I have wanted a dog of my own, and when we finally were in a position to own one, we moved into an apartment that doesn’t allow dogs.

Dying for some canine companionship, I decided to volunteer to walk dogs at a local shelter twice a month. I would go in on a Saturday afternoon and take 2 to 4 dogs on a walk, before I called it a day.

If there weren’t that many dogs to walk, I would just take one out of the shelter and we would sit on a bench by the East River for a few hours.  It was only two hours of my time, and I left more centered and relaxed. The dogs were highly appreciative of it as well.

If you love dogs and are looking to volunteer some of your time, walking shelter dogs is fantastic. There are a great deal of online resources that can point you in the right direction if you ever decide to check it out.

Have a great weekend and happy walking!
