The West Indian Day Parade 2016

West Indian Day Parade 2016

I live in a Caribbean neighborhood in Brooklyn, where every Labor Day is carnival.  The West Indian Day Parade happens after an overnight party called J’Ouvert concludes, and everyone is out in full party mode.

This was the first Labor Day I was in town since we moved to East Flatbush in 2013 and I made sure to attend the festivities.

The media widely covers these events as “dangerous” and “out of control”, but the parade can only be described as fun and family friendly. If you are in town next year, come out to Eastern Parkway to enjoy the festivities and bring some cash, because the food is out of this world!
