Last night is when I finally bought my husband his Valentine’s Day gift.
We don’t always celebrate the holiday but this year I found out a few days prior that he had bought me something. I wanted to get him something, but because of my work schedule I kept putting off buying him something until I was on the my way home last night.
I felt really bad about this.
Men normally take the fall for being last minute planners for holidays like Valentine’s Day, but there I was digging through the picked over cards and chocolates desperately trying to find something acceptable.
Thankfully I found something I could feel good about.
I happened to look around at the other people doing the same thing I was and I would like to report that most of the people in CVS last night buying last minute gifts were women.
It felt good to be in their company, breaking a gender stereotype I have been holding on to for years.
