Apparently, NYC school kids are on vacation this week. Happy birthday to me!
School age kids are great, but I have noticed that there is a difference in my stress level when they are in school and when they are on vacation.
My stress manifests in one place only, the NYC subway.
My school days began and ended on a bus, so it’s awesome that school age children can take a subway to school. Kids, well, aren’t the best subway patrons.
But it’s not their fault, right? They are exploring their world, screaming at their friends, learning new things, pushing each other around, and figuring out who they are, so how can I expect them to ride the subway quietly without smacking me with their backpacks?
We have four months to go before the kids are out of school for the summer, so I will revel in this yearly birthday gift of a week of subway rides without the school children.
It’s going to be a great week!
