184 Holiday Engagement

Three years ago today, Andy asked me to marry him. We were at my parents home in Pittsburgh and I was still in my pajamas. My father walked in as Andy was proposing, and as soon as he realized what was happening he awkwardly left the room.

It was the first time I had seen Andy in 6 months, as we were on separate theater contracts, and my uncle was living at my parents home, losing his fight with cancer. The whole day was very emotional, and I was glad I got to share it with my family.

Andy and I actually started dating 8 years ago today, so this holiday always means a lot to us.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

223 A Poppy is to Remember

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
