It snowed this morning and when I passed this gas test plate on the sidewalk, it caught my eye.The gas plate is near my apartment building but I had never seen it before.
After 5 full years of walking down the same sidewalk, I love that the snow uncovered something that had been hiding in plain sight.
Stepping out the front door of my apartment building this morning, I was greeted with a city covered in a small, but beautiful, layer of snow.
Perhaps I hadn’t been paying attention to the weather, but I don’t remember seeing that it was going to snow.
It was a nice little surprise that made my morning that much better.
It was 50 degrees yesterday.
As I walked around mid-town I saw a lot of men wearing shorts, which wouldn’t have been my choice, but I get it. I was wearing a sweatshirt, jeans, and a lightweight jacket.
The choice that baffled me was the folks in full winter regalia, wearing hats, scarves, and gloves in the 50-degree weather.
I am always curious about the people who bundle up when the weather is 50 degrees. Not so much judgemental, but more in awe. If I had been dressed like that I would have been sweating like a pig; quick to strip my layers until I cooled down.
It’s 50 degrees again today and I am looking forward to wearing more spring-like clothing. I am also looking forward to checking out the New Yorkers who have all bundled up for the second day, like the next ice age has arrived.
